And just like that, we’re already 2 days into the Yonex Belgian International!
Day 2 brought a full day of top-level badminton to Nieuwpoort, with big names, exciting matches and thrilling Belgian action.
From the very first rally, the focus was clear. The players fought for every point, pushed themselves to the limit and gave everything they had on court. And they certainly weren’t doing it alone.
The international line-up proves the level of this tournament. From Kirsty Gilmour to the Grimley brothers there was plenty of experience and quality on court. The atmosphere only grew as the day went on, with theplayers fully focused and the crowd getting louder with every big rally.
Julien Carraggi, the Belgian favorite and first seed in the means singles started his tournament strong with two wins and secured his place in the quarter-finals. Clara Lassaux also showed her fighting spirit, taking the first set against European Championship bronze medalist Vivien Sandorhazi, before her opponent had to retire.
Belgian duo Lieke Van Parys and Fae Boonen also gave their all making it to the second round as well. Reaching the goal they had set with their coach.
But beyond the results, it was the hard work that made day two special. Intense rallies, big celebrations and players giving their everything is exactly what we hoped for when bringing the Yonex Belgian International to the Belgian coast.
And there’s still plenty more to come.
